Lord Mayor visits Lurgan’s award-winning GCD Technologies
Lord Mayor of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council, Alderman Glenn Barr, has paid a special visit to GCD Technologies to personally congratulate them on their success at the UK App Awards.
Custom software specialists GCD Technologies won UK App Agency of the Year (Medium) at the 2021 UK App Awards, awarded to an agency with 11-50 employees who are developing exceptional apps for their clients.
Their success continued this year following awards for Best Streaming App for their work on Farmflix and Best News App for Independent.ie at the 2020 awards.
Established in 1999, GCD Technologies builds bespoke software and apps for some of Northern Ireland’s most recognised brands including Coca Cola, PowerNI, Belfast Telegraph and Fane Valley.
The Lord Mayor attended the GCD Technologies offices to celebrate their win.
Alderman Glenn Barr said: “I have watched GCD Technologies grow over the years and I’m delighted, and immensely proud, that a local Lurgan firm has won a national award.
“It was great to meet with GCD to honour their achievement and celebrate local talent. This award not only recognises their commitment to providing a quality service to their clients but also acknowledges how driven the entire team at GCD are.”
Andrew Gough, co-founder and managing director of GCD, stated that it was a privilege to welcome the Lord Mayor.
“2021 has been a fantastic year for GCD, we announced the acquisition of Propertynews.com, launched our Product Design Sprint service, which is proving to be a great success, and to top it off we’ve won UK App Agency of the Year, all whilst continuing
to navigate our business through a pandemic.
“The dedication of our staff is admirable. I’m elated that this visit from the Lord Mayor could take place to mark all of their hard work.”
