Entries open for free scheme to help people find work in construction sector
A free, hands-on training scheme to help people find employment in the construction sector will be running in the Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon (ABC) council area.
The Groundworkers Programme will cover some of the essential skills needed to work in the industry.
These include drain laying, kerb laying, paving, excavating, safe use of saws, health and safety and First Aid.
The two-week scheme has been organised by Industry Training Services and ABC Council for anyone in the borough who is unemployed, works fewer than 16 hours a week or is at risk of redundancy.
The programme will provide the candidate with over £1,100 worth of training and will link them with potential employers once the training is completed.
There are three sessions – November 14-25, December 5-16 and January 16-27.
The closing date for applications is Friday, October 28.
