Join Lurgan-based family business as Avondale Foods seek new recruits
Fresh food product manufacturer Avondale Foods Ltd are recruiting for several positions within their Lurgan-based site.
Founded in 1965, by Harry and Derek Geddis Avondale Foods started in business growing vegetables at their family farm for distribution to local markets and retail outlets.
As Avondale Foods expanded, produce was outsourced to local growers while the company focused on product development.
In the early 1980s, Avondale Foods became the first company in Northern Ireland to manufacture coleslaw and quickly became one of the leading suppliers of coleslaw in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
Avondale Foods remains a family company with the founding members still involved in the day-to-day running of the business. The second generation of the family also play key roles within the senior management team.
The company has since grown to incorporate a staff of over 400 people, which fluctuates in accordance with the demands of production.

Production Operatives
This key role is to prepare a range of products that meet company standards and customer’s specifications and requirements.
Working within various areas of the chilled factory the job role will vary from preparing, making and packing quality food products.
Essential criteria for the role includes possessing a basic level of both verbal and written English and previous experience working within a Food Production environment. Six months of work experience is also a requirement with a proven high level of manual dexterity and speed.

Production Supervisor
The purpose of this role is to support the management team towards achieving maximum production efficiency and product quality; to ensure adherence to food safety regulations and hygiene procedures; to control legal compliance and process systems.
The Supervisor should lead by example and ensure that you and your team are adhering to company policies and procedures in relation to Product Quality, Food Safety and Integrity.
Essential criteria for the role includes possessing a basic level of both verbal and written English, having a minimum of 3 years’ experience within a Production Supervisor Role within a food manufacturing environment, holding a Level 2 Food Safety qualification and candidates must be computer literate.

Shift Hygiene Manager
This key role is to manage the Company’s entire hygiene processes and procedures in line with complying with current legislations and towards achieving top marks on internal and external
audits.
The Shift Manager will lead by example and ensure that you and your team are adhering to company policies and procedures in relation to Product Quality, Food Safety and Integrity.
Candidates should have a fluent level of both verbal and written English and experience within a Hygiene Supervisory role for a minimum of 3 years.
