Why did you choose being a Compliance Manager as a career?
I enjoy investigating concerns. I find it very intriguing how things can be somewhat of each individual’s perspective. From the initial information submitted, to all participating factors, to the full picture at the end of the investigation.
What are you most proud of in your career to date?
Previous to this role, I had joined a company that was sanctioned and for closure, being issued the task of closing out all recommendations under extreme monitoring. To the sanction being successfully removed, to growing the company from 85 clients to 710 clients.
What is your favourite thing about your job?
The team. One of the main incentives when applying was the people within the company as well as their values. Before applying I viewed the website and the management structure. The senior management panel had not only professions from different professional backgrounds but also a wealth of knowledge.
What has been the biggest challenge in your job?
The most challenging would be people. In the health and social care industry as a whole, I have found that management styles can vary, which at times can cause tension within teams/ services. Recruitment in the industry is also a challenge, which then again causes tension and stress levels to increase amongst staff within the services.
What is the most helpful advice that you have been given?
“It is all about what you want to do and how we can help you achieve it.”
If you could choose anything else to do, what would it be?
Develop software specific to our needs.
What do you think your best quality is?
Adaptability. I do enjoy structure and like to have a plan in place. However, the needs of the company always need met. I find that in my 15 years, I have happily adapted and changed anything required to meet the needs of the company.
Name three things that you like doing outside of work…
Exploring, football and I am a double black belt in Tae Kwan Do and would regularly be invited to help teach classes in the local centre for children.
What is your most prized possession?
I am very much a making memories person. I like to complete tasks and have something for this memory. Pictures, medals, memorabilia etc. I have 12 medals for Tae Kwan Do and 4 trophies for player of the year for football as well as running medals for races completed.
What is your favourite food?
Pizza.
What is your favourite book?
I have never read a book. This is factual, it is something I have never had a want to do.
What are you currently watching?
I have just finished watching Fool Me Once.
If you were to watch a band/singer live, who would it be?
Celine Dion.
Dead or alive, who would you most want to meet and why?
My grandad. He died when I was extremely young. He was a big character who had achieved so much.
