Watch: Armagh City Hotel receptionists Aisling and Amie on why they love their jobs

Aisling Perry and Amie Dunn are receptionists at the Armagh City Hotel, working as part of a close-knit team providing front-of-house help.

The first faces you see walking through the doors, the receptionists thrive in the social interaction and customer service environment that is so important to help leave a good first impression on all guests at the hotel.

Aisling has been on reception for around a year-and-a-half, after she decided she wanted a change of scenery after a period behind the bar.

She loves the support and camaraderie that her small team brings, which has helped her to develop her skills in coping with stressful and unpredictable situations.

She works part-time while also in university and says the job is perfect for just that, as being a receptionist helps provide vital life experience and skills which can be used all through your career.

Amie has been a full-time receptionist for a year, and she was enticed by the role because of her desire to engage with people head-on.

Having been in retail from 18, she loves the social aspect of being hands-on at the front-of-house and getting to know people and bond with customers and her fellow staff.

She says the job helped her to be more self-reliant and improve her confidence, as she often has to make decisions and trust her own judgement.

Amie has made a number of friends at Armagh City Hotel through her role as a receptionist.

Her advice? Why not just give it a go?
