Warehouse Team Leader

Overview

Due to factory expansion, R.Thompson & Son (Armagh) Ltd, are seeking a highly motivated and responsible Warehouse Team Leader to oversee the efficient operation of our warehouse.

This crucial role ensures the smooth flow of goods, maintains high hygiene and safety standards, and leads a small team of warehouse operatives.

Reporting to: Factory Manager

Responsibilities:

• Team Leadership: Supervise, motivate, and train a small team of warehouse operatives, including task allocation and performance monitoring.
• Workflow Management: Oversee receiving, storing, picking, packing, and dispatching of goods, ensuring efficient workflow and timely task completion.
• Inventory Control: Assist with maintaining accurate inventory records, conducting stock checks, and reporting discrepancies.
• Health and Safety: Enforce adherence to health and safety regulations and company policies, ensuring a safe working environment and correct PPE usage.
• Hygiene and Cleanliness: Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the warehouse, complying with food safety regulations.
• Quality Control: Monitor the quality of received and dispatched goods, reporting any damages or defects.
• Communication: Effectively communicate with other departments (e.g., production, logistics) for seamless coordination.
• Problem Solving: Proactively identify and resolve issues within warehouse operations.
• Reporting: Provide regular updates to the Factory Manager on warehouse performance, productivity, and challenges.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement.
• Training: Conduct on-the-job training for new staff on procedures, equipment use, and safety protocols.
• Perform other reasonable duties as required by the Factory Manager.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Previous experience in a warehouse environment, ideally in the food industry or similar fast-paced production setting.
• Proven leadership skills and experience supervising a team.
• Strong understanding of warehouse operations (receiving, storing, picking, packing, dispatching).
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Forklift truck license (desirable but not essential – training may be provided).

Working Conditions:

• Food production environment with potential exposure to varying temperatures, noise, and dust.
• May require some flexibility in working hours, including occasional weekend work or overtime.
• Full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) provided.

Hours and Pay:

• Working Hours – 07:30 & 16:30
• Days: Monday to Friday – Flexibility will be required for this role
• Competitive Hourly rate paid
