Hamilton Court Care Home are looking for a Chef/Cook to join our friendly and professional team in Armagh.
This role follows a consistent Bi-Weekly Schedule over a 4-week Pay Period:
Week A: 3 Working Days (25.50 hours exclusive of breaks)
Week B: 2 Working Days (17.00 hours exclusive of breaks)
Repeating every 2 weeks (total of 85.00 hours per 4-week pay period)

About the role:
Food is one of the highlights of the day for many of our residents, and this is a vital and valuable role within our Care Home.
We need someone to provide good, home-cooked, nutritious, and tasty food for our residents. Your job will ensure that our residents always have a first-class dining experience, including the environment, taste, choice, and service.
It will involve the likes of menu planning, preparing, serving, and cooking the main meals and snacks, checking quantities and quality of stock, and ensuring appropriate hygiene standards are maintained in the kitchen and dining room areas.
Our aim is that the food we serve is as good, if not better than, the food you would have at home.
Duties will include:
- Plan and prepare balanced and nutritious meals based on dietary restrictions, special diets e.g. pureed, diabetic and the preferences of residents.
- Follow standardised recipes and portion control to ensure consistent food quality and minimise waste
- Garnish and plate meals attractively to enhance the dining experience for residents
- Strictly adhere to food safety and hygiene standards, including proper food storage, handling, and sanitation.
- Maintain a clean and organised kitchen, including regular cleaning and sanitation of equipment, utensils, and workspaces
- Consider any resident feedback and incorporate changes accordingly
- Monitor and manage kitchen inventory, including food and supplies
- Place orders of ingredients and kitchen equipment as needed
- Comply with relevant health and safety regulations and care home policies
- Work cooperatively with kitchen staff, hospitality, and other departments to ensure smooth meal service
About you:
- Proven experience as a cook, preferably in a healthcare or nursing home setting.
- Food Safety Certification Level 2 or 3 is required.
- Knowledge of various cooking techniques and a wide range of recipes.
- Familiarity with dietary restrictions and special diets, including knowledge of food allergies and sensitivities.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes accurately.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Good physical fitness, as the role may involve lifting, pushing, and pulling equipment.
