Overview
Armagh City Hotel are seeking a dedicated and proactive Day Porter to join our team.
The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and overall appearance of our facilities while providing excellent customer service. This position requires strong communication skills and the ability to work independently, ensuring that all areas are well-kept and welcoming for both staff and visitors.

Salary: £10.22 to £12.21 per hour
Key Responsibilities
As a day porter you will be responsible for:
- presenting a professional and courteous attitude, to include professional presentation of uniform and hygiene.
- ensuring that all function areas are checked and set up correctly for the day/next day’s business as per the function sheets, liaising with other departments where necessary.
- attending to all customer requirements. Handling customer queries and complaints, ensuring to record and report accurately and escalate where applicable.
- servicing rooms, polish and buff floors, clean public areas when required and to ensure that the porters store is clean and tidy.
- ensuring that all equipment in the department is looked after and regularly maintained.
- regularly carrying out hygiene and maintenance checks, to include public areas/entrances/exits ensuring the latter are free from obstruction. Recording, reporting and resolving any hygiene or maintenance issues in the hotel or on the hotel grounds.
- attending training courses as and when required.
- undertaking night porter shifts as and when required (to cover holidays and sickness)
- complying with all Safety Rules and Policies and Procedures as outlined in The Employee Handbook.

- extreme organisational skills
- the ability to make intelligent decisions when faced with competing priorities
- excellent verbal and written communication skills, great interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate at all levels
Desirable Candidate
It would be advantageous in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions;
- previous experience as a day or night porter in a similar setting is desirable but not essential
