Egg Collection Driver

Overview

Due to factory expansion, R.Thompson & Son (Armagh) Ltd, are seeking reliable and responsible Egg Collection Drivers to collect egg pallets from farms across Northern Ireland and deliver them to customer warehouses.

This role offers both full-time and part-time opportunities.

Reporting to: Transport Manager/Logistics Coordinator

Responsibilities:

•  Egg Collection: Collect egg pallets from designated farms across Northern Ireland according to a pre-planned schedule.
• Delivery to Customers: Deliver collected egg pallets to customer warehouses, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
• Vehicle Operation: Operate company vehicles (vans/trucks) safely and efficiently, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.
• Load Security: Ensure all loads are securely loaded and restrained to prevent damage during transportation.
• Vehicle Maintenance: Conduct daily vehicle checks (pre-trip and post-trip inspections) and report any defects or maintenance requirements.
• Booking Collections: Liaise with farms to confirm collection times and book collection slots, ensuring efficient scheduling.
• Offloading Vehicles: Safely and efficiently offload egg pallets at customer warehouses using appropriate equipment (e.g., forklift, pallet jack).
• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of collections, deliveries, mileage, and vehicle maintenance.
•  Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service to farmers and customer warehouse staff, maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor.
• Route Planning: Plan efficient routes to minimize travel time and fuel consumption.
• Adherence to Regulations: Comply with all relevant transport regulations, including driver hours and tachograph rules.
• Vehicle Cleanliness: Maintain the cleanliness of the vehicle.
• Perform other reasonable duties as required.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Valid UK driving license (Category CE)
• Driver CPC qualification (if applicable).
• Previous experience as a delivery driver or in a similar role is desirable.
• Experience in multi-drop deliveries is an advantage.
• Good knowledge of Northern Ireland road networks.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to handle physical work, including loading and unloading.
• A positive attitude and a commitment to providing excellent customer service.
• Experience operating a forklift (desirable but not essential – training may be provided).

Working Conditions:

• Driving across Northern Ireland in various weather conditions.
• Early morning starts may be required.
• May involve some physical work, including loading and unloading egg pallets.
• Full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided.

Hours:

• Full time and part-time positions available. Specific hours will be discussed during the interview process.
