Due to factory expansion, R.Thompson & Son (Armagh) Ltd, are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Junior Maintenance Operative to join their Engineering/Maintenance team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to begin your career in maintenance engineering within the food production industry, gaining valuable hands-on experience working with automated machinery, robotics, and other production systems.
Reporting to: Maintenance Supervisor/Senior Maintenance Operative
Responsibilities:
- Assist with planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on production and ancillary equipment.
- Work alongside experienced technicians to troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic faults.
- Learn to diagnose and rectify issues with robotic egg handling and processing systems.
- Conduct basic maintenance tasks (cleaning, lubricating, inspecting equipment).
- Assist with the installation and commissioning of new equipment.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and report issues to the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations and company procedures, maintaining a safe and clean working environment.
- Respond promptly and efficiently to breakdowns and production stoppages.
- Undertake general maintenance tasks, including basic repairs to building fabric and utilities.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform other miscellaneous tasks as required.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A keen interest in engineering and maintenance.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and understanding of tools.
- Some practical experience in a maintenance or engineering environment (desirable but not essential).
- Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proactive and problem-solving approach.
- Willingness to learn and develop new skills.
- Basic computer literacy.
Hours and Pay:
- Working Hours – 07:30 & 16:30
- Days: Monday to Friday – Flexibility will be required for this role
- Competitive Hourly rate paid
