Production Line Team Leader

Overview

Due to factory expansion, R.Thompson & Son (Armagh) Ltd, are seeking a highly motivated and responsible Production Line Team Leader to oversee the efficient operation of our egg packing lines.

This crucial role ensures the smooth flow of eggs through the packing process, maintains high standards of hygiene and safety, and leads a
team of packing operatives.

Reporting to: Factory Manager

Responsibilities:

•  Team Leadership: Supervise, motivate, and train a team of packing operatives, including task allocation, performance monitoring, and providing guidance.
• Production Flow Management: Oversee the smooth and efficient flow of eggs through the packing line, minimizing downtime and maximizing throughput.
• Quality Control: Monitor the quality of packed eggs, ensuring they meet company standards and customer specifications. Report any defects or inconsistencies.
• Health and Safety: Enforce strict adherence to health and safety regulations and company policies, ensuring a safe working environment and correct PPE usage.
• Hygiene and Cleanliness: Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene within the packing area, complying with food safety regulations.
• Machine Operation & Monitoring: Oversee the operation of packing line machinery, ensuring efficient running and reporting any malfunctions to the maintenance team.
• Problem Solving: Proactively identify and resolve issues on the packing line, such as blockages, equipment malfunctions, or staffing shortages.
• Communication: Effectively communicate with other departments (e.g., production, quality control, maintenance) for seamless coordination.
• Reporting: Provide regular updates to the Factory Manager on packing line performance, productivity, and challenges.
• Training: Conduct on-the-job training for new packing line staff on procedures, equipment use, and safety protocols.
• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of production output, downtime, and other relevant data.
• Perform other reasonable duties as required by the Factory Manager.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Previous experience in a packing or production environment, ideally within the food industry or similar fast-paced manufacturing setting.
• Proven leadership skills and experience supervising a team.
• Understanding of packing line operations and machinery.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices, particularly within a food production environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Basic computer literacy.

Working Conditions:

• Food production environment with potential exposure to varying temperatures, noise, and dust.
• May require some flexibility in working hours, including occasional weekend work or
  overtime.
• Full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) provided.

Hours and Pay:

• Working Hours – 07:30 & 16:30
• Days: Monday to Friday – Flexibility will be required for this role
• Competitive Hourly rate paid
