Armagh City Hotel are seeking a skilled General Maintenance Person to join our team.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in maintenance. This role involves ensuring the proper functioning of equipment and facilities, providing excellent customer service, and supervising maintenance activities as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Obtain an efficient knowledge of the hotel layout, with regards to room numbers, laundry, kitchen, restaurant and ancillary areas.
  • Ensure a working knowledge of all hotel services with particular emphasis on electrical, plumbing and heating installations.
  • Obtain a working knowledge of all standing hotel contract maintenance services.
  • Keep adequate stock levels of maintenance materials in workshop electrical store, including electrical bulbs, fluorescent tubes, spot lights, fuses, paint and cables.
  • General painting internally and externally when required.
  • Ensure such materials are ordered in writing on an order form and carry out delivery checks.
  • Receive, check, and sign for all deliveries of Beverage stock orders and deliveries where appropriate including Laundry.
  • Ensure all stores and stock areas are kept clean and tidy at all times.
  • Ensure car parking areas are checked and left tidy (first thing) on a daily basis.
  • To complete and record weekly fire bell tests and monthly emergency lighting tests.
  • Maintain adequate security of the workshop during working hours.
  • If outside contractors are required, contact the General Manager.
  • Carry out periodic building checks – inside and out with regard to pipes, roofing, walls, windows, car park, sewers, electricity etc. A check list should be completed and forwarded to the General Manager.
  • To ensure the health, safety and welfare of yourself and others who may be affected by your behaviour.

Essential Candidate:

You should have and be able to demonstrate:

  • Strong knowledge of hand and power tools, as well as other maintenance and safety equipment
  • Strong knowledge of how common electrical and mechanical items work and how to repair them
  • Proven practical skills in areas such as carpentry, decorating and plumbing
  • The ability to work under pressure to achieve objectives within timescales, without compromising accuracy and quality.
  • Must be extremely organised, with the ability to make intelligent decisions when faced with competing priorities.
  • Excellent at both verbal and written communication, with great interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate at all levels

Desirable Candidate:
It would be advantageous in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions;

  • Previous experience in a similar role desirable
