Overview
In order to support business growth, McElmeel Mobility Services is looking for a Research and Development Engineer to support our fast paced, dynamic engineering team. The R&D Engineer needs to be a key contributor to the engineering team, supporting new product development and drive continuous improvement to existing designs.
Responsibilities include:
- Work closely with the wider team in relation to new product development including management, marketing and production
- Work closely with Engineering team to design and document new conversions, develop new processes, update production build manuals, and carry out fault finding exercises
- Liaise with R&D team in the creation/modification of parts, technical drawings, and Bill of Materials
- Implementation of new technologies, manufacturing processes and materials
- Sourcing and liaising with suppliers of purchased components
- Follow engineering change control procedure where applicable
- Record and analyse Time and Motion studies to drive improvements in production times
- Create and update all relevant documents for COCs/Certification/Testing
- Schedule and visit test houses to perform component/vehicle crash test campaigns
- Create and manage multiple design projects within set timeframe
- Be responsible for the correct use of personal protective equipment as per the company policy
The Ideal Candidate:
- Degree educated or equivalent in Engineering
- 3+ years experience in a manufacturing industry related role
- Previous experience implementing change control within a production environment
- Experience in solid/surface modelling using Solidworks or similar
- Working knowledge of steelwork is an advantage
- Full Driving Licence
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (inc Word and Excel) Office 365
