Volunteer with USPCA and help make a difference to an animal’s life

Do you have a passion for helping others and love animals?

Then USPCA would love to hear from you! Their Charity Stores needs volunteers; from van drivers to customer care assistants, they have a range of roles available.

The USPCA is the ‘second oldest Animal Welfare Charity in the world’ having been founded in 1836 by Commander Francis Anderson Calder. Now in 2023, the intention of the founders to ‘Prevent Cruelty and Relieve Suffering’ remains as the driving force for their charitable activities today.

The Charity Stores are an essential arm of the charity, helping to fund USPCA services such as animal rescues, social re-homing and pet food parcels.

Based in Banbridge and Lurgan, the Charity stores are a great place to make new friends, pick up new skills and give back to the local community.

Hours: Monday – Saturday: Morning/Afternoon (4-hour shift)

Location: USPCA Charity Store, 30 Newry Street, Banbridge or 58 Church Place, Lurgan

Minimum Age: 16 and Over

Report To: Store Manager

Purpose of role to assist in the day to day running of the USPCA charity store to maximise sales and increase fundraising income for the charity.

Principal Duties

  • To assist and serve customers, providing a good level of customer service.
  • To assist with processing donated stock, including sorting, cleaning, pricing and arranging of donated items.
  • Restock the shelves when needed.
  • To assist in the visual merchandising of the store and the display of items.
  • To be involved with the till operation and the handling of cash
  • To assist in daily tasks including cleaning, tidying and hoovering of the retail area.
  • To assist in keeping the store and storage areas clean and organised at all times
