Armagh Jobs: Six physical roles for the active candidate

Over the last few years, the working from home model has seen a rise in popularity – with employees and employers alike. But it’s not a one size fits all. Just as some people are not built for the sedentary lifestyle of the office worker, some roles can by their nature, be physically demanding and require workers who are prepared to roll up their sleeves.

There are many jobs that let you stay active, with the most obvious being in construction and maintenance. There are also less obvious active forms of employment to be found in waste management, healthcare, retail and hospitality which all come with physical requirements.

Here are six roles with Armagh Jobs that are ideal for the active candidate:

Pallet Maker

Armagh Timber Products are seeking Production Operatives to train as Pallet Makers. The candidates will work on the factory floor carrying out general production duties within our busy timber section.

Training will be provided on the use of nail guns and automated machinery.

This is a physically demanding role with some heavy lifting involved.

Work time is from 8am – 5pm Monday to Thursday, 8am – 4pm Friday with possible overtime. Evening and weekend overtime available in busier periods.

Maintenance and Grounds Person

Armagh City Hotel are now recruiting for a Maintenance and Grounds Person (Temporary 3-6months, with the possibility of extending) to join the team.

The successful candidate will complete preventative maintenance and repairs to all areas of the hotel and fitness and leisure club to include its exterior, heating and cooling systems, plumbing and electrical systems, furniture, fixtures, interior and aesthetics ensuring standard of product and service as laid down by the company.

Previous experience in a similar role is desirable but not essential.

Hours of work are stated as 9am – 5pm with shift patterns to include early mornings, weekends and statutory holidays or other holidays.

Machine Operative

Kestrel Foods Ltd are recruiting for a Machine Operative to assist Production Management in all aspects of carrying out daily production tasks to ensure its continued success across our day, evening and night shifts.

Previous experience working in a manufacturing/processing environment operating Multi Head Weigher’s, Vertical Fill Form Baggers and Printer Coder is required.

There are three shift patterns to choose from:

  • Day: 8.00am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday.
  • Evening: 4.00pm to 00.30am Monday to Thursday 1.00pm to 9.30pm Friday (with shift allowance).
  • Night Shift: 11.30pm to 8.00am Monday to Thursday (with shift allowance)

Deputy Care Home Manager

Fairlawns Nursing Home require a Deputy Care Home Manager to provide management and leadership to a team of Senior Care Assistants and Care Assistants.

They will be responsible for ensuring all current and newly referred individuals are properly assessed and that high quality, person-centred support is provided for all supported individuals. They will ensure support teams have the skills and competences required. The Deputy Care Home Manager will ensure that all regulatory and contractual standards are met and exceeded.

The role is for 40 hours per week and candidates should have a minimum of two years experience at Team Lead Level in a similar role.

Commis Chef

The working pattern is for 16 hours per week, 8.30am to 5.00pm across 2 days out of 7 days (including rotational weekends).

A Commis Chef is required to operate the kitchen focusing on tasty, well-balanced, nutritious meals catering for all dietary requirements, ensure the efficient and effective delivery of services to the client organisation in accordance with the agreement of the contract.

The successful candidate will have full responsibility for all aspects of the service and team whilst on shift, ensuring all bookwork is completed within agreed timescales and, company requirements and ensuring all HACCP, Food Safety, and Health and Safety Legislation requirements are always adhered to.
