Armagh entrepreneur awarded with Honorary Doctorate by Ulster University
The Armagh entrepreneur and founder of a “national leader” in homecare, support and housing provision has been awarded an Honorary Doctorate by Ulster University.
Mairead Mackle MBE – together with her husband Gerald – founded Tarasis Enterprises back in 1995 “from the kitchen table”.
Tarasis Enterprises has a clear vision of “One Team, One Dream” with a core set of company values instilled in the culture of the company.
Corporate social responsibility is of particular importance to Tarasis Enterprises who ensure consideration is given to environment, philanthropic, ethical and economic factors.
iCare – a charitable arm of the company – was launched in 2010 and since then it has helped support thousands in the local community, year-on-year.
At Christmas, in particular, iCare consistently provide support with heating, electricity, food, and gifts, making the festive period that little bit easier for struggling families.
During her time in business, Mairead has also championed the role of female leaders.
In 2018, driven by the desire and passion for supporting an equal society and developing female leadership, Mairead founded a community interest group call ‘Evolve’ which helps all women step into their own success with confidence.
Evolve, through its community, events, resources and content will promote equality, support female founders, entrepreneurs, intrapreneurs and leaders in all walks of life, from their kitchens to their boardrooms, to unleash their full potential, achieve success and reach their goals and dreams.
For her philanthropic, economic development and ambassadorial work, Mairead was officially recognised with an MBE in the New Year’s Honours list in 2021.
