Senior Group Manager retires after ‘life service’ at NFU Mutual

After 44 years of service, Senior Group Manager Howard Pillow, has retired from his role at NFU Mutual after dedicating most of his working life to the company.

When Howard first joined the company, he joined with Jim Speers and Arthur Maginnis back in 1981. With the three past colleagues meeting up again at a retirement function to share stories of  life in the company back in the 80’s.

Company chairman, Raymond Pogue said: “Together with the officeholders, office staff and all members both past and present, we wish Howard a long and healthy retirement.”

Replacing Howard is Banbridge native Gail Toal, who has worked for NFU from November 2023 before being appointed group manager in July 2025.

With plenty of experience under her belt, Gail has worked in the financial services industry for 16 years and more recently, undertaken a two-year consultancy role within the voluntary sector.

Gail also holds a Business degree from Ulster University and a Financial Services Diploma from University College Dublin and over 27 year’s senior management experience in leadership, strategy, people and business development.

Speaking of her new role, Gail said: “I am looking forward to meeting with members and servicing the financial services requirements of them and their families.”
